Mr Jump is a fast moving platformer produced by 1Button. It’s one of those games which will make you want to throw your phone across the room in frustration, only to pick it straight back up to try and complete the next level.
It has a similar frustration factor to Flappy Birds, all be it with a little more depth and variety of levels. Essentially to goal is to get to a white diamond at the end of each level by jumping over obstacles, avoiding gaps and using special power ups to give you extra jumps and open doors.
It sounds simple enough, but in reality it is incredibly hard to complete each level without spending multiple attempts.
Mr Jump currently has 12 levels to master, most of which will have you tearing your hair out before long. Each time you die you are provided with a percentage which indicates how far you have travelled through the level.
Level 1 simply involves tapping the screen to jump over obstacles, the longer tap the higher and further you jump. This is pretty much the only level which can be classed as easy (and I use the term loosely).
Level 2 is set in a forest and adds white floating diamonds, allowing you to jump in mid air. This where the game starts to become tricky.
Level 3 adds power ups which provide you with unlimited jumps in mid air, until your feet hit the ground and level 4 adds levers which open doors.
At level 5 and above the game starts to get really hard, with all of the extra abilities in the first 4 levels rolled into one, with increasingly difficult levels as you progress.
At the time of writing this guide I’m stuck on level 6, with 526 attempts (yes it records the number of times you fail each level!)
Below you an find some video guides covering all the levels curtesy of BitStern.
Mr Jump is an enjoyable, frustrating, hair pulling out, retrol style platformer akin to Flappy Birds and similar titles. It will keep you coming back for more until you master every level, or more likely delete the app from your phone in utter frustration!
