Today MZ have released an update adding a new category of Wall Traps in Game of War: Fire Age:- The Strategic Wall Trap.
Strategic Wall Traps have an entire new research tree which you can find under the Academy. Three different traps have been added for each tier, plus the generic wall brick equivalent - this means there are 13 new traps to research!
In addition you can also research Strategic Trap Defence and Strategic Trap Attack, both are unlocked after researching the tier 1 strategic wall traps. Each has 10 levels and max out with a 40% boost to strategic wall trap defense or attack.
The new traps have an extra attack boost against specific troops, which is stronger than the regular traps. However, the downside is that strategic wall traps are weak against all other troop types, whereas ordinary wall traps are only weak against Siege.
Each of the three traps in a tier will be classed as either “very strong” against Infantry, Ranged or Calvary.
The traps fall into the following tiers:-
|Tier||Unit||Very Strong vs.||Weak Vs.|
|1||Rolling Wall||Infantry||Siege, Ranged, Cavalry|
|1||Longbow Tower||Ranged||Siege, Infantry, Cavalry|
|1||Pitfall||Cavalry||Siege, Infantry, Ranged|
|2||Arrow Wall||Infantry||Siege, Ranged, Cavalry|
|2||Sentry Tower||Ranged||Siege, Infantry, Cavalry|
|2||Flaming Carts||Cavalry||Siege, Infantry, Ranged|
|3||Pendulum||Infantry||Siege, Ranged, Cavalry|
|3||Defense Tower||Ranged||Siege, Infantry, Cavalry|
|3||Poison Swamp||Cavalry||Siege, Infantry, Ranged|
|4||War Barricade||Infantry||Siege, Ranged, Cavalry|
|4||Ballista Tower||Ranged||Siege, Infantry, Cavalry|
|4||Smoke Bomb||Cavalry||Siege, Infantry, Ranged|
The time taken and cost to build Strategic Wall Traps is exactly the same as their normal Wall Trap equivalent for each tier. However, one of the prerequisites is that you must have the equivalent normal wall trap researched before you can unlock the Strategic version.
One of the biggest downside of Wall Traps in general is the length of time it takes to build the higher tier traps, unfortunately this does not appear to have been addressed with the new traps.
Whist it is nice that MZ have finally added some new units to research and build, we would have much preferred some new troops rather than wall traps. Whilst it is nice to be able to specialise your defenses further against a single troop type, in reality most players will attack you with a balanced army of troops.
Hopefully rolling out new wall traps will follow shortly with the introduction of new troops.
