In Boom Beach Tanks are a slow moving, high dps and high health ground unit, first unlocked at Headquarters level 11. They also have a very long range.
Tanks are a very strong unit and can quickly take out buildings often at a safe range. They are however very weak against cannons and boom cannons, taking double the damage compared to other troops. It is therefore best to take these out first with the gunboat if possible.
Boom mines also cause double damage to tanks and you should avoid these by the careful use flares, or better still take them out with the gunboat. Tanks are expensive units and take a considerable time to build, they also take up 8 spaces on a Landing Craft, so early on in the game you will probably only be able to fit one per craft.
Tanks are the only unit in the game that actually use up power to deploy. Each tank deployed uses up two power from your Gunboat. You need to plan carefully how you deploy them, because if you use up too much power with Artillery and Barrage, you may be prevented from deploying all of your tanks.
Defending against tanks can be tricky, your best bet is to protect your resource and support buildings by placing them the other side of your defenses. This prevents attacking players from building up too much power. You should also spread out your Cannons and Boom Cannons throughout your base.
