Grenadiers are slow moving troops that throw multiple grenades, causing area effect damage. They are not very accurate, but have a very long range.
Large groups of Grenadiers can be effective by causing area effect damage to multiple buildings, whilst staying out of range of defenses. The downside is they are expensive, very inaccurate and take a long time to take down buildings.
Their grenades can also damage your own troops, so you need to be careful with troops such as warriors that have very short attack range and therefore can come under friendly fire.
Grenadiers are first unlocked at Headquarters level 16 and upgrading them to level 10 will almost double their damage per second.
Grenadiers have relatively low health and therefore are quickly taken out if they get in range of any defenses. A good comb is to send in Tanks or Heavies first, which can then draw the fire away from your Grenadiers.
Another useful strategy for this unit is minesweeping. Due to their poor accuracy and quick fire, grenadiers can be used to take out large areas of mines, allowing other troops access to the base.
